Sharks Kickboxing

Sharks Kickboxing provides high quality Kickboxing training that also includes K-1 rules and boxing.  With a focus on technique, fitness and skill, students can be sure to receive some of the best training around.

Coached by Mark Monk, 4th Degree Black Belt and former England Full Contact Fighter, with over 20 years of experience for both the basic fundamentals and advanced training for Kickboxing.  Sessions are suitable for those who are just interested in the fitness aspect, however, we also coach those wishing to compete to a high standard in various styles (boxing, Kickboxing, K-1, Low Kick, Mat and Ring Continuous, Points and Full Contact). We also offer gradings for those wishing to earn belts to progress to black belts.

Sessions are suitable for men, women and children regardless of experience or previous training. The club also boasts a friendly atmosphere to support beginner student training.


Recruit 6 Bootcamp

Recruit 6 Bootcamps is run by fully qualified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer Nicola McGrath. Nicola is recruit 6 from the channel 4 TV show ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’ with Ant Middleton.

Nicola started her bootcamps when she finished the show and focuses on women only bootcamps. She knows from previous experience how scary and intimidating it can be
to turn up to gyms and fitness classes alone, and hopes the ladies only classes will make it less scary. She has created affordable and friendly bootcamps, where women can go to
support and encourage each other, have fun and make exercise something you all look forward to doing.

Nicola wants to help women with different goals and abilities and can modify and adapt movements to suit your level of fitness.  All of her sessions are for any levels of fitness.

Being physically active is really important to Nicola and she just want to inspire others, especially her children, and show people that anything is possible with a little bit of hard work and consistency. She always sets herself goals to achieve which include running the London marathon twice, trekking to Everest Base Camp and her most recent challenge, being on series 5 of SAS Who Dares Wins and making it to the final day of the course.


Cannon Wrestling

James ‘Troublemaker’ Baker has been in the wrestling business for nearly a quarter of a century, having started as a 15 year-old school boy in the Spring of 1997. He has stepped into the ring with everybody from Danny-Boy Collins to Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Although only 39 years old, he has already wrestled in 4 different decades and has seen the business evolve throughout that time. Level-headedness and a safe-solid style of wrestling have aided James’ longevity, together with his easy-going nature and physical durability.

Over the decades James Baker has been a co-trainer at Wrestling Schools in Bristol, Wiltshire and Hampshire and is now very proud to offer training at his very own school in Taunton. He has a lot to give back to the wrestling business and relishes the opportunity to train new talent in the heart of Somerset.

A few highlights:-

  • A newly constructed and customised 16ft show ring built by Wrestling Rings UK - the UK’s top ring manufacturer!
  • Guest Jiu Jitsu/MMA coaches will be assisting with occasional sessions, teaching a variety of hybrid grappling techniques
  • Diverse training to help new wrestlers evolve with a fresh style of Pro-Wrestling
  • The training area has a very large matted area for wrestling drills/practicing techniques
  • A large crash mat for developing those ‘high risk’ aerial moves.

Large Group Training sessions throughout the week will begin with a short warm-up in which everyone takes part. All Cannon Wrestling Trainers appreciate that people are of different fitness levels and only ask that you try your best.

One-to-One and Small Group Sessions (2-4 People) are also available, subject to schedules.  This is a friendly training facility with a supportive atmosphere, teaching those who want to learn at their own pace.
